The History of New Life
Towards the latter part of 1987, the Spirit of the Lord released on the heart of Dr. Katherine Corbett, the need for a non-denominational ministry where the Holy Spirit has free reign. Upon receiving this charge, she patiently waited on the Lord for the time and season of this new fruit. As Dr. Corbett stayed before the Father, she was to develop the New Life Adult Bible Class. The class began on December 31, 1987, in her home in the form of a New Year’s Eve worship service.
As time passed, the hunger of the class embers developed, and the provision of God caused the birthing process to begin. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, Dr. Corbett and her bible class began to visit other ministries. In March 1988, the Lord provided the release that afforded New Life Ministries the opportunity to open the doors of a supernaturally provided building on Woodfield Road in West Hempstead, NY as a place of public ministry. The first service was held on Resurrection Sunday in 1988. With much prayer and fasting, New Life Ministries received the mandate from God which was ‘to teach and expect to experience His Word’. The first worship service was sealed with the celebration of the Lord’s Supper and the dedication of infant, Sonya Morrison.
Like the first church, other buildings and homes of members were utilized for worship services. Those places included: The Martin Luther King Center in Rockville Centre, Tanglewood Park Preserve, and the Christian Victory Center, In 1994, God provided New Life with its’ own house of worship at 619-31 Pinebrook Ave, in West Hempstead, NY. In September 2007, as a result of a miraculous move of God, New Life moved into the New Life Christian Center which is a multi-faceted building located at 167 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead, NY. Through the years, New Life has watched its’ fruit bear witness to the fact that with and through God, all things are possible. We have celebrated 30 years of dedicated service to God, His Word, and His people, with one voice, heart and with uplifted hands, we shout, “To God Be the Glory for the things He has done!!!
